ABOUT US
what is taekwondo?
Taekwondo is one of the world’s most respected and disciplined martial arts—offering much more than just kicks and punches. The word Taekwondo (태권도) translates to “the way of the foot and the hand,” reflecting the balance of physical skill and mental discipline that defines the art. Tae means “to kick or strike with the foot,” Kwon means “to punch or strike with the hand,” and Do means “the way” or “the path.”
Although modern Taekwondo was officially developed in Korea in the 1950s, it draws inspiration from earlier Korean martial traditions such as Subak and Taekkyon, practiced for centuries to develop strength, focus, and resilience.
At its core, Taekwondo is about building confidence, respect, perseverance, and a positive mindset. Students improve coordination, balance, fitness, and self-discipline in a structured, encouraging environment. Whether you're looking to boost your child’s focus or find a powerful way to stay active and centered, Taekwondo is a lifelong path to personal excellence—both on and off the mat.
